Pronghorns are grazing animals living in the prairie lands of the American Mid-West. They are known for their speed as they can reach upto 55 miles per hour. Both sexes have horns, however a males horns have backward pointing hooks. Males also have a black face and a black patch beneath each ear. They have large eyes enabling 360º vision.

A couple of hundred years ago their numbers were in the 40-50 million. However, like the American Bison, their numbers dwindled to approximately 13,000 in the 1920s. Conservation efforts have now brought their numbers back to 450,000.
